I havent ridden either, but my friend has an RC51 and he says his junk gets friggin hot because the twin runs hotter. I know its not the type of response your looking for, but I gotta say too, I love the rumble of an RC.

My taste... is to stay away from v-twins. I took a buel out for a test, and by test I mean ride it like you stole it... (see, this is why dealerships don't let you test ride bikes). I hated it. too much vibration, the engine never ran smooth at all. I haven't had the pleasure of testing the RC51... If I ever wanted to step up (don't know why I would) I'd go to the 1000RR. If I really needed more power, switch over the new ZX-14 from Kawasaki 1352 cc, think they're trying to bet the busa?

I personally like the look of the RC51s and LOVE the sound. Theres no way a inline 4 can match the sound. Ride wise I have never ridden either bike so I cant help you out there

I've got a couple buddies with 1000RR's and a buddy with an RC-51. First off, as stated above, nothing beats the sound of the RC, throaty and powerful. Both bikes bite hard with lots of power, but it's here that you need to decide what you are looking for. The 1000RR gets it's power from 4 cylinders, screaming into high RPM zones. The RC-51 get it's power from a big twin engine, doesn't rev nearly as high as the RR, but has a LOT more torque. Again, it's up to you as a rider and what you're looking for in a bike.

My friend out in Cali does lots and lots of track days. Blew the engine on the RC51. Went back to the 4 stroke GSXR-750. My cousin rides a TLR1000. Incredible wheelie bike, I personally don't enjoy riding V-twins.

I would get the inline 4. The bikes are faster. A 600 inline four can keep up with larger v-twins. Not as torquee, but just as fast. I like engine that rev to 15,000 not 9,000. Thats just what I like though.

Has anyone here ridden both? I know the specs and thanks to all who have commented. Might just have to go ride both once the local dealer gets them in again.

the rc51 is an out and out race rep suspention is rock hard around town but get above 100mph and it starts to make sense the engine is a cracker loads of torque. the rideing position is for the track high pegs low bars. tank range is about 100 miles but your arse will want to stop before that. i have only had a short ride on the 1000rr good torque screaming engine better for road riding. i make the rc sound bad but it is one of the best bikes i have ridden. test ride them both, by both and keep the rc for special occasions.
