I got some sweet ass flat slide carbs for sale in the classified section...all you have to do is bolt them up and take them to the shop to get sync'ed(about an hour labor at most shops).they were expensive as hell, selling them less than have price, they only have 3 to 4 thosand miles in them

Go with a stage 1 jet kit and a full aftermarket exhaust this should give you at least 10 more horsepower. Then if your into 1/4 mile racing I would change the gearing maybe one down in front and 2 up in back this will take away from your top speed but you will have a 1/4 mile rocket. Also maybe a K+N air filter remember fuel +air =horsepower good luck

What year of an R1?  You will play hell keeping up with it if it's post 2000 with out some heavy mods.  If that is your bike in your avatar then it looks to have an aftermarket exhaust.  Jet it right, a K&N or BMC race filter will help air flow, gear it down......-1 up front with a 520 conversion.  After that you're looking at cams and carbs.  Expensive.  To have the work done it will probably cost you as much as a good used bike that will do what you want stock.  A 954 for instance.  I had my 99 900RR Geared -1 with a 520 kit, full V&H SS2R exhaust, jetted, K&N and it would not out run my friends 03 R1 unless you started in 1st and got a run on him because the R1 will climb harder in 1st, meaning you are at full throttle in 1st pulling away while he's dicking around trying not to wheelie, but after he hits 2nd-3rd you will likely get passed.

I tried this too, to keep up with my brothers 01 GSX-R 1000...........I couldnt do it without major engine work, and it's expensive unless you do it yourself.  You can build an engine to do it, but it's cost prohibative unless you are married to your CBR.

Good luck though.  Let us know how it goes.

nothing you do short of overhauling the entire bike will help you keep up with a post 2000 R1.

Well I guess that answers the question. I think I may just go one down, two up with the gearing because i have the K&N and aftermarket pipe. Was hoping to push past 160mph but I can just get to 120 faster. The gearing will also help with Wheelie's, correct?!

LOL.......yeah it'll help with wheelies.  It will help it get to 120 faster for sure, it will still probably top out around 140ish or so.  That's nothing to scoff at.
