So a couple nights ago I'm heading home from Coronado and I have to go over the Coronado Bridge which is 2.2 miles long and has a vertical clearance of 200ft over the water.  Oh, and at night it is 2 lanes inbound towards San Diego which was the way I was heading.  So I start the climb up the bridge and hear this car coming up, turn over my left shoulder and see the Infiniti going by me close to 70 mph with a whirring under the hood.  I change lanes and get behind him and the race is on.  I was so amazed at the acceleration of this car.  There was some traffic so passing wasn't really an option but I had the throttle almost pinned and he was accelerating at close to the same speed.  We ended up going around a Ford Expedition/Explorer, not sure which, at around 145 mph and I killed the gas when I saw 153 on the speedo!  He then proceeded to accelerate more and I'm guessing saw 160-165!!!  Great race and on a large highway I think I would have pulled him, but impressive none-the-less...  Just wanted to tell my story, that's all.

Hell yeah, I rented a 2007 G35 when I went to Vegas a couple of months ago and them things are fast as hell for a car. I passed somebody on the interstate and looked down, I was doing 100mph from 55 just passing the dude. So now I have to buy one. The sedan G35 from factory is 306hp and let me tell you, they are all of that!! The rental car was sideways in 2nd and it was a automatic with the trac control on!!! Sweet Sweet car!!!!

Are you sure you was in the right gear ? a 2500lb car with 306hp beat you. Im not saying the car is slow but it should be alot slower than you bike non the less.

I guess you would have no chance with the new police cruiser a Dodge magnum with the hemi then ?

That car only runs low 14.00 et in the quartermile and the 929 runs 10.50 et in the quarter mile. The 929 should do circles around the infiniti. Theres a couple of them running at our track, impressive but not to beat a bike. Johnny

um you guys are saying 306hp and 14.0 et 1/4 mile, yeah thats assuming its stock, he said the car hit around 160-165mph meaning it HAD to be modded somewhat, maybe turbo, centrifugal supercharger etc

now im not saying that he shouldnt have beat it, he probably could and would have, but that car must have been a beast to say the least...

For a sedan the infiniti is a fast car, but there isn't many mod out there yet for that car. I don't even think there's a programer for the computer yet. I've been working on cars all my life and love speed but even before I owned a sport bike and owned 10 second camaro's and mustang's I allways had a respect for sport bike because of the horsepower to weight ratio.I don't care what mods that car had in it if you get on that 929 it takes 1/2 the time to reach that speed on the bike because of the HP toWT ratio.Johnny

I guess some of you didn't really read what I wrote.  We didn't start from a light or anything.  We started racing when I let him pass me going 70 mph.  On top of that, I wasn't trying to pass him, just pacing him.  We were on a two lane bridge, 200ft in the air and there was some traffic.  I saw 153 on the speedo while I was right behind him and decided that was fast enough and held it there for just a sec.  That is when he pulled away to 160-165.  I wasn't trying to beat him, I was just keeping up.  Geez, gotta read the post before blasting the comments.

It still does'nt do 160 and you should'nt call it a race or 929 vs infiniti. Post what you posted and you will get comments. Don't call it a race. Johnny

Race - a contest of speed, as in running, riding, driving, or sailing.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/race

Infiniti G35 2003-2006 Top Speed: 155 mph (electronically limited)
http://www.modernracer.com/infinitig35sportscoupe.html

So why shouldn't I call it a race?  Just because I didn't try to pass him?  And I know he had a turbo under the hood, I could hear it when he passed me.  I hear your next argument, "It's electronically limited."  If he spent the money on a turbo I'm sure he removed the limiter, as I have a friend with a 350Z, unturbo'd, and he has already done that.  Also, going 70 mph, it would be spooled up so his acceleration would be pretty significant.  Maybe he had twin turbos, probably not, and who knows how much he was boosting.  It's not uncommon here in San Diego to see cars like that as I see Ferrari's and Lambo's almost every day on Coronado.  So if the stock top speed is 155 and he puts a turbo on it, then you are probably right, that extra 5 mph would be impossible *sarcastic*.  Maybe you should spend less time worrying about whether I call it a race or "929 vs infiniti" and educate yourself on the topic.  Post what you posted and you will get rebuttles.  Don't post out of ignorance.

-It is better for people to think you are ignorant, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Check that out.  He doesn't have the speed limiter chip replaced, however it's turbo'd.  Look at the speedo and tell me what it reads.

G35 with a fully built motor ($3-5K) and a twin turbo kit ($7k) with some other supporting mods can get these cars to around 400-500 RWHP and some have seen 10 sec 1/4 mile passes. I am sure that guy had alot of cash up into that car.
