A couple of weeks ago I decided to fabricate some wire mesh onto my 929.  I really liked the way that the RC-51 looks although I understand that the mesh on those is to protect the side mounted radiators.  However, I liked the look.  So I slapped some on the 929 and kind of liked it, but still unsure.  Just looking for opinions on what you think.  I took a couple of pics.  In the past two weeks they have not caused the bike temp to go up or really any performance pros or cons that I can notice.  So here they are, tell me what you think:

P.S. - I know you were wondering, and the answer is yes.  They keep the squirrels out.

That's a pretty unique mod, never seen anything like that and looks like you did a pretty good job on it. My opinion would be to experiment with painting or powder coating the screen either black or white. Probably black. You'd still have a mesh look with the light coming through but I think it would look much better then the screen porch color, imho.

I have thrown this one around many times in my head too. I thought about a glossy black color to flash back some of the red lights inside. It looks nice though. I wanna see anyone elses if they got `em.
Good job.

Thanks for the compliments, I thought about the black after I glued them on...  One day I'll get around to painting them.  It's really easy to do too, about $12 for a roll of wire mesh from Home Depot and some 5-minute epoxy to hold it on.  If anyone else has it done I'd love to see some other pics.

Not a fan of it. It brings attention to a part of the bike that in my opinon doesn't need attention brought too.

It was pretty easy to shape overall.  There is one hard part on each fairing, which you'll notice when you are doing it.  I saved that part for last and made sure that the mesh was epoxy'd and set in all the other places.  Then it held fine.  For your frame sliders just cut out a diamond after you get the fairings on and tighten them down.

Thanks for the positive replies!!!  I'm going to try to paint pieces of mesh black and reinstall them.  Just washed the 'ol girl today so tomorrow I'll try to get some full bike shots of her up.  Man I love this bike!!!

So tonight I made the final decision!  I drank half a bottle of crown, invited a bunch of friends over and we did some mods.  They included painting the bike green, lowering it to close to 2" from the ground and playing with it in the sand.  Taken from the great pic I've seen of the guy in full leathers, my tribute:

Me:

My friend Mo (notice how he looks THROUGH the turn):

And finally M80 riding without appropriate gear, what a squid:

Yea we get down, knee draggin' 'til I die.  Have to see what this girl does on the straights tomorrow when I'm sober.  See ya guys later!

I think the mesh looks cool.

Do you have to remove the fairings to check/fill the coolant bottle now, since the access to it is now covered?
