zvillephatboygt -> newb question (8/2/2007 6:02:46 PM)

hey everyone i am new to bikes, and just purchased a 93 cbr 600 f2, now when i am at about 55-60 the bike runs at about 5500-6000 rpms. I was told it had diffrent sprockets on it, but was wondeirng what the rpms would be with the stock sprockets, or if the guy was pulling my chain.

zvillephatboygt -> RE: newb question (8/2/2007 7:34:08 PM)

i have no idea how can you tell?? this is my first bike so i am learning everything

6zoomzoom6 -> RE: newb question (8/2/2007 9:36:43 PM)

count the number of teeth going around the sprocket.

FNQuickF2 -> RE: newb question (8/2/2007 9:37:09 PM)

Stock sprockets will run close to 5k at 60mph...IIRC. The # is punched on the side of the sprocket.

alright thanks for the info i will count them tonight and see if they are stock or not

JB_Pgh -> RE: newb question (8/3/2007 5:34:41 AM)

That rpm/mph sounds about right - at least it's around the same for me.  Mine kind of sputters/is not smooth at that rpm/mph, that's how I know.

zvillephatboygt -> RE: newb question (8/3/2007 8:20:10 PM)

ok thanks for all the info everyone, like i said its my first bike, and i didnt know if those rpms were high. i am going to check those sprockets this weekend. again thanks for all the info

FNQuickF2 -> RE: newb question (8/4/2007 11:52:12 AM)

yup i was riding today and at 60mph it was at 5k. i was just wondering. also one more question, i was digging into the bike earlier, took the side platic off to check all my fluids and lube up the chain. my question is where do i check the tranny fluid??? when i was looking it looks like the tranny and the motor is all one, but i dont know bikes to well so i couldnt tell you?

nsb22 -> RE: newb question (8/5/2007 5:04:36 AM)

The motor and the tranny share the same oil.  As long as your oil level is good you are good to go!

zvillephatboygt -> RE: newb question (8/5/2007 7:19:04 AM)

cool thats what i kinda figured, but wasnt totaly sure. thanks once again

The speed of the engine at a certain road speed (MPH) will be determined by what gear you're in. So, saying you run 5k RPM at 50MPH isn't enough information. What gear are you in?

We are assuming to be in sixth...
