Just saw a 88 Hurricane in paper for $800 and plan to go look today. The guy says it doesn't start due to rust being in the fuel tank, but says it will start with a new tank. Is this something that I need to be overly concerned about? Could other parts in the fuel system be damaged?

If that is all that is wrong, I would say it is worth it. You can either re-seal the tank or just get another (I see them all the time on ebay).

As far as the rest of the fuel system, I would not be at all surprised if the carbs need to be cleaned out, but that is not a deal breaker either.

Good luck!

a rusty tank shouldnt stop a bike from running as long as there is fresh gas in it. I would ask to try some fresh gas in it before you buy it.
