can some one explain to me whats the diffrence between the three why is a 900 not considered a superbike and the 600 are suppose to be for corners and 1000 for power and speed so would a 900 be in the middle

I guess it depends. For racing or a track day.....a 600 will be easier on your body to turn while on the gas and off for that matter because it weighs less and has less rotating mass (pistons, rods, crank, etc). The 900RR weighs more than most new liter bikes by a little (maybe 10-12lbs) and makes roughly the same peak HP as a new 600 although it has more tourque than a 600 can even dream of having. The 1000 is simply fast............but it does take more effort to turn it in than a 600. It will tire you out more trying to heave the extra 20lbs that it's carrying compared to a 600. I thought of my 900 as a very torquey 600. Peak power is way down compared to any liter bike after 2000 and the weight is up, but it's still more than plenty for most riders. It's a superbike in my opinion. It sure as hell isn't a sport tourer. It's probably comparable to a ZX-9R. It's down on power compared to a Ninja, but still................it's not short on the thrill factor. My wife's R6 is MUCH easier than my 1000 to throw down on through the tight bits...........a good rider on a 600 can show up an average rider on a 1000 as long as the road doesnt straighten out. Same with the 900, I passed MANY a ZX-10R, GSX-R1000, 954, 929, 1000RR at the track on mine, but I've also been passed by a GREAT rider on an SV-650 so........the rider makes a huge difference.

well in a straight line, my 98 900rr with Full D&D exhaust, stage 4 jets, -1+5 sprockets, +4 ignition advance, K&N filter, ran even with an '03 GSXR1000 with a few odds and ends done to it...... it could've been rider but we stayed even, with me even pulling him a lil in 3rd gear.....

Well, LOL..........did he out weigh you by about............oh.......100lbs? THAT will take the wind right out of any bike. I beat an 04 1000 with my 900, but the guy weighed 310lbs to my 200.........it wasn't much of a race, but against my brothers 01 1000 it wasn't even a race (he weighs in at 175lbs) . I could hold him off after regearing it until about the end of 2nd, but only because mine could go full honk in 1st and not climb, the 1000 can't. Once he got into 2nd he was gaining like he was on fire. My 99 900RR with Full exhaust, jet kit, K&N -1 520 conversion would just run even with him from 55mph if I was in 4th gear and he was in 6th..........and even then he was gone before I got very far into 5th. The 900 is not much of a match in flat out acceleration for any of the new 1000's given equal or similar rider weight and from a rollon to eliminate rider error.

Well, the 900 is considered a Superbike, because thats what Baba wanted to make. When the FireBlade first arrived, other Supersbikes was the ZX10, GSX-R1100 and CBR1000F. But they weighed a tonne, the FireBlade was one of, if not the first, to combined lots of power with low weight. Though not much compared to todays bikes, but back then, it was SPECIAL

I tell you what guys, after I finally got my 900 running the way I wanted to it has impressed me quite a bit. I especially like the torque that I get at a very low rpm. It really slips me ass back if I'm not holding on. My 900 is deffinently a keeper. Johnny

Just throw a Turbo on ya 900RR, get anyware from 270 - 310 hp i doubt anything could keep up with you after that... But all in all im pretty happy with my 900RR i can easily keep up with todays bikes and show some ones up too. As for me i dont think i need more power to add to it, its pretty dam fast already. __________ 93 900RR Carbon Fiber Extras D and D Full Exaust Stage 2 Jet kit 520 RK Race chain LindeMann Full Race suspention

Those days heavyweight superbikes been tagged to 900 whereby this days it is a litre. Its all depends with the manufacturer I guess. I won't be suprise they will come out with 800cc class since its a hit in motogp at present. I agree fully with gixxereater that a performance of a bike is very much depends in the riders ability.
