Moisture will cause corrosion faster than normal, I have the exhaust wrapped after the headers on my 70 454 vette to keep down the heat and the sound. There is also a waterproof/resistant spray that may help with the corrosion issue, but I doubt it. Any water gets sent right to the pipes on our bikes, so if anything the header wrap will get wet. Have you looked into ceramic or jet-hot coatings? I got it on my vette and the headers look like new, shiny silver and no corrosion. The wrap on the primarys will increase scavenging and maintain velocity and may add a a minute amount of power. There are exhaust blankets out there that will sheild heat and maybe sound, but breathe so the corrosion will be less of an issue.

Most useful if you have bodywork that sits close to a header. I just wrapped a section of exhaust on my truck that was a little too close to the spare tire. Turned out great.

It''s a good/bad situation. Yes, it will help keep heat down, reduce sound a tad, and maybe give you the tiniest bit more power. BUT, it will also hold water and make your pipes corrode quickly. It can also make your pipes brittle, due to higher temperatures in the pipes themselvesleading to stress cracks or total failure (relatively common). Finally, if you have any oil leaks that can get on the wrap, you will always have the lovely smell of burnt oil, and the possibility of riding a motorized torch. That''s a worst case scenario, but I have seen it happen.
