If you bike had 1000 miles on it and the cluster has 5000 miles on it, your bike will read 5000. Or, if you bike has 1000 miles on it, and you buy a new one from the dealership, your bike will read 0 miles on it. It must be adjusted at a dealership or there are a few places you can ship it to.
