Out of date? Maybe if you're into 'real' racing. But otherwise it's just down a few hp from, say, the 600RR. You'll never really notice any 'deficencies' on the street. Sure the RR's a few pounds lighter and has radial calipers...but unless you're racing or a bike 'expert rider' you'll never really feel much of a difference. Would you call the C5 Corvette 'out of date' just because the new version came out? Hardly. It's still a damn fine car and these are still damn fine bikes. But if you want to go spend another $3-7k just so you can be on the cutting edge of technology then go for it. I'm not saying you're wrong, but for the average street rider, they're not really going to be able to tell that much of a difference so the point is moot. Save your judgements in milimeters and ounces for your racing buddies.

Its not the newest coolest thing out there thats for sure. But if you wanted a true sportbike with a reasonably comfortable riding position its a good choice. Its still a great looking bike IMO but if you are a trendy person when it comes to styling you might want to check out the RR. 8600 seems too much for me. You might as well pick up a nice split seat for 5-6K.

WOW!!!! Seeing some of the prices for the F4i's is way too much for a F4i 11g's???? sorry man but never on a F4i. I didnt realize such the price difference from state to state the F4i's were going for $6999 around here in Ma and NH new. I think when I bought my 2003 Gsxr750 new off the show room floor I paid about $9000 I geuss depending on your state and the price on what a new one went for when they made them then ....... I dont know man..... it just seems too much for me for a stock F4i new or not. Best of luck on your decision

Would you say that a 2000 Honda Accord/Civic/Etc same as the 2007 models? What I am saying is that, if you are planning to drop 8k for a bike you might as well get something new and more up to date. I dont know where that 3-7k from its seems that you just kinda threw that in. A brand new RR should cost you cost you close to 9 grand right now. Which is not that large of a stretch to the 8200 that F4ivst was taking about.

I guess it's what you mean by 'out of date'. That just sounds very...final and harsh to me. The F4i was their supersport to beat until the 600RR came out...it was Honda's top of the line for it's class. Then the 600RR came out in '03 and although it was totally redesigned, most tests concluded that it was a fraction better on the track, but the difference was negligible for the streets. Their numbers and stats were close to identical. Granted the RR has gone on to evolve since then where the F4i has not. But it's not like the F4i is stuck in the stone ages. It was never the 'Accord' in Honda's lineup...i still think the Corvette analogy is more fitting. Now the Kawi Ninja 650R i would call an 'Accord'...but not the F4i. I got the price range from what i paid for my bike vs what i would pay for a new RR off the showroom floor. I got my '01 F4i for $3500. The RR lists for $9500 and they're not exactly keen on giving out great deals on them. And then if you finance (which is more likely when you get into that price range) you'll even wind up paying more in interest. I know new F4i's are going for more...but the '01 is identical in practically every way. Yes, i know you can get older RRs for closer to $5k...hence the range i gave... 3-7k more for something that's overall a bit better, but to me it's hard to see that it's worth it. (And i appreciate the fact that this hasn't gotten to be a pissing match. I'm not trying to offend or contradict unnecessarily...just my point of view. I appreciate that we can both respect our difference in views. Cheers!)

7,999 OTD for our 05 in 05, and if he wants the kawi, whats wrong with that? the 636 is a hell of a bike, if thats the one he's looking at? I would go with a 636 before a F4I any day, and I'm a Honda fan for life, if he's a newbie, by all means, the F4i is probably the best 600 out there for him.
