When it comes to riding, I wouldn't want my girlfriend riding with me in a group too (and she understands that). It's not that we are ashamed of you, it's the fact that we are constantly worrying about your safety when riding. We're constantly looking in the mirror to make sure you are still there, and it makes the ride very unpleasant having to constantly check up on their loved ones.......and it's exhausting. We ride to escape stress, and looking after someone while riding just creates more of it. (for me anyway.)

Plus, "riding with the boys" is simply that, a guys night out to ride around. Guys need their space, just as women do. And it's not the fact that we "don't treat you right", but we just need our space like everyone else.

Now (since I have already been caught in the women's locker room), I would like to say this. I really don't mean to offend women out there, but why don't women have their own group of friends they hang around with on a regular basis? It seems like all my friends' girlfriends (mine included) don't do anything except obsess over their boyfriends being home, and demand they "stay in" with them all night, every-night. And if one of my friends (or me) wants to go and hang out with the guys, it's always a "No.", or they let us go, but give us a gilt trip before hand..........or the worst, letting us go, but calling every 30 minutes, bugging us to come home early. (that one I can't stand )

just to barge in on this, i agree that its sometimes inconvenient to always have to watch out for the girl rider or passenger in a group ride. i personally like girl riders mixed with the group, but its not always that simple.  this is not to talk down on girl's riding ability or frailty, but sometimes guys are just stupid and when one guy is being stupid, the rest usually follows.   so it's hard to have to worry about the females in the group.  i for one have a couple of good female riding buddies but i always have to watch out for them and sometimes make sure they don't get lost from the rest of the group.

but generally as long as the guys and girls respect each other and their space, it should all be aight.

I dunno about other guys, but I wish my gf would ride because I have such a great time when riding and it would only make it better if i sharing that experience with someone I love.  However, my gf is accident prone and even if she did want to ride i don't think i could let her.

My husband told me he felt that he had nothing and that he works too hard. So I said OK go get a bike.  I didn't like it and nagged.  You know what shut me up?  I got my own bike.  Now no more nagging :)
