Popped my first wheele tonight. 20mph in 2nd gear. I think my biggest problem is when I'm just about to dump the clutch I lean foward. Got in a few successful wheeles not big but it gave me a hard-on.

yeah that is a problem a lot of noobs have, my buddy always leans forward. I tried explaining to him that you are trying to get the front wheel up, why are you leaning on it??? thats cool though keep practicing you will only get better.... later

yeah that sounds like alot of revving. I still sometimes lean into it. it's just instincts taking over.

it's just instinct, i used to do the same thing without realizing it.  it just takes time and practice to get over that feeling.  i remember the first time i REALLY did a wheelie, i thought i was about to fall off the back of the bike, when i set it back down my heart was pounding, but after several more times of doing it, it just becomes second nature.

that's the way to do it, don't do too much on your first day or you'll end up looping it before you can learn throttle control.  once you get that front wheel up in the air the first couple of times, your mind's natural reaction is to find a way to get the wheel back down as quickly as possible, so you don't even think about throttle control.  it's easy to chop the throttle without realizing it and set it down way too hard.

it will depend on how your bike is geared.  it's more about what RPM you're at than what speed you're going.  on my 929 with stock gearing, i do 1st gear wheelies at about 30-35 mph.  i just got the bike though and plan to change the sprockets out within the next month or two.

first gear 15-25, second gear 30-45 (standing up) I'm not very good at them yet.

i haven't done a 2nd gear wheelie yet, with the stock gearing i'd have to be going faster than i'd be comfortable with for right now.  i've got em down pretty good in 1st gear, but i'd like to wait until i change the sprockets before i try to do 2nd gear or stand ups.  i've tried 2nd gear and got the wheel up about a foot or so, and set it back down because i didn't feel comfortable on 1 wheel going that fast.  i guess it'll just take time and practice though.
