I found a set of HID lights on ebay for my 2006 600RR for around $130 and wanted to know whats the highest output of watts I can use on my bike without melting anything. I want the brightest blue I can get away. So does anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

Have you installed these Xenon lights? If so, what bulb size did you use.

Color has nothing to do with the watts, most are going to be ~55watt, they actually run cooler than the stock bulbs. You want a higher color temperature to get the blue, around 8-10,000K. 4300K is just about pure white, and what I run. They are impossible to miss, damn near blinding so aim your lights carefully.

The bluer you go, the less light output you get. Milt, you need to research what size bulb your bike takes b/c there are people with different bikes posting in here. The balance of blue and light output is best at 6000k and you really start losing output at 8000k. I had 8000k on my old Prelude and loved it but I'd go with 6000k next time. 4300k is the whitest and best for ultimate visibility. And you MUST AIM THEM PROPERLY. You will seriously blind people if you don't.

Probably an elementary question but i'll ask:

Does a 6000k HID bulb have a significant light output then a stock highbeam on our bikes?

Beyond significant. Night and day difference. If you can only afford one, do the low beam for regular use. You will almost not need to use the high. Heck, anything HID up to and including 10000k is night and day, but you want the best output in HID to have the most effective upgrade. Best output in HID is 4300 followed by 5000, 6000, 8000... you get the picture. The higher you go, the less lumens (light output) you get.
