i have been having some bad luck with tires on my 01 929 this summer. i've gotten 3 yes 3 flats this summer. 1 was due to a nail but the other 2 i have no idea what happened. i love my 929 but it might be time for a change. my 929 has a 520 kit, polished frame and rims, powercommander and some other goodies with 20k miles. i have a chance to trade straight up for a 03 kawasaki ninja 636 with 1356 miles on it and no mods. am i an idiot for even thinking of this trade??? i love the way the 636 looks but dont know if i wanna loose the power. just need some feedback to help with the decision. thanx

Test ride it.   RMR on here just got his 929 a few weeks ago and man is it fast.    Pulls away from my VFR 800 with no problem.     It basically just depends on your riding.   What you need if for, fuel economy, comfortability, etc.    I'm only heard good things about the 636.

my brother has a 929 with a leo vince high mount and its a quick bike. I have a 900rr and it has alot more torque starting off, but i used to have a 636 with a full muzzy exhaust, power commander and k&n and i tell ya what, for a 600, that bike was fast as he!l. when your moving, i cant tell much of a difference, but take off, the 929 should be a huge difference. i never had an issue with the 636 and i thought it was one of the best looking bikes, but if your looking for power, keep your bike.

Wonder what the power to weight ratio is on these two.   I love it when jeep guys make fun of samurai owners and dont realize how much an advantage you have with a good weight to power ratio.   Hell even little sport cars are fun to drive with a small engine.

thanks for the feedback. i like the looks of the 636 but i like the power of the 929. i guess i will just have to keep the 929 and buy a 636. they both are badass bikes. i was just wanting the 636 for the looks and it only has 1356 miles on it. but i think i would be making a mistake to down grade just for looks.

you can't go wrong with a 636.. only things to watch out for them is downshifting knocks... even when your doing 20 in 6th. you go into 5th and your going to feel it.. but upshifting is b e a utiful..

also,, engines knock... its a kawi thing.. nothing to be worried about.. i had an 05 636.. the only thing i hated about it was it wasn't green..

My buddy has a 2003 Silver 636 and i love how that bike looks-it's hot!  His has a full two bro's exhaust and that'sd about it and that is one fast bike for waht it is.  it makes my 2000 F4 seem like it's sitting still.  I have never rode the 636.
