ORIGINAL: Icyalkn Blue, +1 on the hazards, I also really like your idea about the kickstand trigger swt..... wait a minute that's it. There's already one in there to kill the bike yes.... hmmm reverse circut? bah I'll go back to my milk and cookies, and leave this to the profesionals Yep. The kickstand kill switch will also serve as a headlight kill switch as well. As long as the kickstand is down, the headlight relay will be cut off.

The small ballast and the separate igniter will still be less space because you can hide the ballasts in one location, and the igniters in another, versus having two huge bricks you have to hide "somewhere". The big ones are fine on the 03-06 models, but the 07-08 models, you definately will be better off with the slim ballasts, even if they have the separate igniters.

^^ Yep. I mentioned them in earlier posts, but never updated the original post. They started carrying slim ballasts about 3 days after I bought my last kit from them.

A 6-LED 197-type bulb from www.superbrightleds.com. They run about $2.97 each. I bought about 6 of them because moisture gets into the "third eye" and shorts them out in about 6 months. So buy a few, and forget about it.

would this kit fit the 04 style? the other write up you di had extended wires, mounting the ballasts all the way in the back... this seems ALOT easier

It is much easier to mount the ballasts up front. (and this thread is for the larger ballast kit). The main thing is finding a place to mount them up front.

Thanks for the great write up Fox, but since I just installed my HID on my '06 I think there is a problem and maybe you can help. I installed the light in the housing but now they kinda wobble around in there is that normal? also there is no cover from the new lights to keep water or unwanted debris from getting in there? am I missing a peice or did I do it wrong? I got the same kit as your '07 the slim ballast model. Thanks for you help.

Hey Blue. I just talked to a guy who does the HIDS for a living. He gave me a warning that the slim ballest is not ment for a motercycles cause where you need to put the ballest it does not cool down enough. It will work for awhile but in the long term it shortens the life of it a lot more then the large ballest does. I just wanted to give you that heads up.

Hey Import, Sounds like the wobbling is due to the metal ring-fastener. Mine were the same way, nd it's hard to explain, I'll try... Instead of fastening that metal ring the way you did with the old bulbs, try pushing the top part of that prong below the retaining clip. Here's what I mean, the metal ring usually is hooked onto that clip (clip is in the 9 o'clock position) by the little curved piece of the ring, right? Well, try and get the whole metal ring under that clip. That will keep it from moving around. Also, on the top of the bulb (12 o'clock position) there is a notch where another part of that metal ring will rest, securing the bulb even more. As far as the cover goes, there should be 2 rubber dust/water boots that came on the bike. Just feed the HID wires through those. Instead of a plug sticking out of it, you will have your red and blue HID wires coming out... looks neat-o too. Foxy, Hey man - your recommendations were spot on. Thanks again. Those kits are super simple to install but I am having one problem... I can't seem to find a way to mount both ballasts without affecting steering in some minute way. I can get one of them in there, but I have to mount it under the fairing stay, as opposed to one on each side of the fairing stay... any ideas? BTW, this is for my 929. Thanks again for the write-up and pictures. If I hadn't read this, I would have never installed them.

Ok I will try the metal ring thing, I know what your talking aobut, and I did reinstall the dust covers that come on the bike but there is still a opening, on the diagram that came with the HID it says there is a waterproof washer in the kit and I didnt see one in the kit. the gap is so big that I can fit a finger in there and see it coming out from the front of the headlight. so am I just missing a part? Thanks

Hey mine do too! I did read that about the washer, I am either retarded or missing them also. FOXY!!! Have you ever had a problem with the bulbs? Now one of mine won't fire up. It flashes as soon as I hit the key like it's igniting, just not staying lit. I've never touched the bulbs, I know that much. I have double checked the leads to make sure everything is making contact and it is soo... I dunno! I've tried hooking the same bulb to all the other leads with no success. So I'm left wondering... Where do I buy a replacement bulb that has the same leads? Or, can I just get any HID bulb and soldier the leads together? I wouldn't have to cut the silicone wiring for that... ANY HELP! Signed; -One bright light in Missouri
