I just bought a '07 cbr 1k and wanted to put the xenon kit in ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H7-6000K-AUTO-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-Super-Slim-Ballast_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ36476QQihZ003QQitemZ130173677602QQtcZphoto )

And after reading everything about other people’s installations and such I wanted to post so pics on how I installed my kit.

Also I wanted to comment on what importcarkid said. “I installed the light in the housing but now they kinda wobble around in there is that normal?”

The stock lights you pull out have an adapter on them (The black thing with the 2 prongs sticking out of it).  If you look at the old light and the new light you will see a thickness difference just after the metal bracket.  The spring that holds the light in place contacts on both sides of the light keeping it snug and in place.  So what you need to do is make your new light look like the old light.  So pull the black adapter off.  Should not be hard it is removable.  Now since you are not going to be using the old lights anymore you can modify this adapter to work on your new lights to create the needed gap to make the stock spring work properly.  What I did was cut the center out and sand the center of it till it’s smooth and fits snugly around the new light.  Then installed the new light in the way the old light came out.  No wobbles and a tight fit is what I got.

how come the h4 bulbs say hi/lo on them. I guess i only have 1 bulb in my bike???

also....the colors??

I am looking for a purple or blue tint to the light. Does that mean I am up in the 8k range?

I don't really understand it fully i guess. Could some one please explain it to the slow kid =]

im not real sure on the bulb size but here is a link to a HID color chart...the higher the number for this company the more blue color you get.  Just remember the more blue color you have the less light you have to see with.

I did this on my f4i.

The only difference between doing this to the 600rr and the f4i is the location of the balast's.

There is a pretty large open area in the upper fairing below the headlight housing. I was able to secure both of the balast's there. I used silicone to hold mine in place. I have never had any luck with double back tape, so I used silicone.

it's ok. I ordered a bulb today. I went to the local motorcycle place and got a PIAA one that has a purple tint to it. It comes next week.

OK! here we go! 1994 US spec 900rr. twin headlight version with H4 bulds. i take it the installation is still the same, looking for  locations to fit the "BRICKS"?

and also on a different note, BLUEFOX mentioned in post 44 about a hazard warning conversion? any advances on this at all? could really do with it on mine here in Venezuela. everyone rides with them. why they were never fitted tobikes earlier i''ll never know.

^^ I bought a kit that was initially a $290.00 kit. Its was the exact SAME quality as the cheaper eBay kits for $80-$100 bucks, so unless the kit is OEM from another car, they''''re all the same. The construction, fit & finish, and quality were dead on the same when I compared the expensive 5000k VisionPro kit to the $90 5000k eBay kit. Guess what? I have the eBay kit still in the bike, and the VisionPro I''''m trying to sell. The eBay kit had more consistent color and was a bit whiter than the VisionPro kit. Here''''s the eBay store I buy my kits from............

http://stores.ebay.com/HID-Outdoor-Equipments

and more importantly this kit...........

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H7-5000K-AUTO-HID-CONVERSION-KIT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742Q2em153Q2el1262QQcategoryZ36476QQihZ003QQitemZ130173850468QQtcZphoto

And on a side note. DON''T get the slim ballast kits unless you absolutely HAVE to. Yes, installing a large-ballast HID kit is a HUGE pain in the ass on the 07/08 models (some slight trimming of the inner fairing is sometimes needed), but it''s worth the effort. I bought a slim-ballast kit and the light output was pathetic at best. I had the color, just not anywhere near the brightness of the larger-ballast kits. And the whole point of HID is performance light output, but the slim-ballasts just don''t perform nearly as well as the large ballast (and I actually thought the stock bulbs were brighter than the slim-ballast kit)

Thanks Fox, that''s what I needed. Is the 80% Japanese one that you bought really any better? Not that $16 is a whole lot more. That''s probably what I''ll do. I wanted to get a set for the bike and a set for the car, and with the price of these I can.
