Hello, I have been on the 1000F forum for a while but I just added a 1999 Bird to the garage. It only has 14k on the clock and was a one (adult) owner machine and it is flawless. Anything I should watch out for? BTW it has never been wet and covered/garaged all its' life. Thanks for any suggestions, Fred

biYes there are a couple thing's. 1. CCT (cam chain tensioner) are a common issue with these bikes usally go out around 8k-15k thousand mile's. If you start to here a rattling noise at around 3500-5200 rpm's it time to replace it. Replacement's are fairly cheap & can be found at ( HERE ) as well as other accesories. 2.The 1999-2000 year model's XX wiring harness's do not like wet weather or rain. They are known for getting corrosion isnide the connector's & causing electrical demon's throughout the charging/EFI system, usaully when this occur's the FI light on the dash will start to light up. Common fix is to cut the connector & soldier wire's together directly to one another, also common refered to a the "wiring loom fix". Check out CBRXX.COM online support forum Other than the above listed there are no issues to look out for, just great Honda reliability, also these bike's are known for going & exceeding 100k+ mile's with proper maintence oil changes, spark plug's,valve clearance adjustment's (about every 35K mile's on the valve adjustment's),airfilter...etc
