Leon@carolinacycle -> RE: what's the difference between OEM, Street and Race fairings??? (10/9/2007 12:14:18 PM)

OEM is obviously factory original plastics, Honda fairings come painted, decals, pre drilled, ready to bolt straight on. Street plastics usually come unpainted and in most cases undrilled. You're gonna have to paint it, probally drill it, and buy OEM decals if you're after a stock look. Race bodywork is always unpainted, not drilled, and no cut outs for headlamp, etc. but is usually a lot cheaper and lighter. Sooo... OEM, ready painted, drilled, all decals, just bolt on. Street, cheaper but unpainted and fit can be dubious. Race, cheap, light, unpainted, no cut outs, expendable! If you're after a custom paint job, street plastics are cheaper than OEM, 'coz you're not paying for the paint and decals. Hotbodies now offer for '07 CBR600 and CBR1000 white or smoke plastic! If you want to retain the stock look, it's ALWAYS going to be cheaper to buy OEM than buy street and have to paint and decal it yourself. Got a track bike? Go for the race, 'coz you're gonna skin it up occaisionally and it's cheapest.Hope this helps.
