I just discovered Factory Pro makes these units for my 90 CBR600F1.  For 60 dollars and about 1/2 hour installation time, they seem like it would be a worthwile mod?  Are these advances really worth the money?  Other then having to run higher octane fuel are there any negetives about these units?  The only modification on my bike is a V&H SS2-R slip on.  I'm intrested in learning how these work and if they are cost effective?

i had one on my bike and took it off. it gives you a little more low end throttle response but you will loose a little on top end.. any noticeable change will be like 1-2 hp. you will be more prone to detonation too. between the price of the advancer and the higher octane gas i dont think its worth it for the very little noticable gain..

how could you loose top end when advancing ignition timing gains power??  The way I see it you would gain power all through the band.  How could you lose power by advancing ignition timing?

im runnin one on my 89 i like the low to mid range thus far.  top end does slow down a little but im contributing it to more exhaust issues.  the header is kinked on 2 runners (aftermarket) with a stock pipe.  supprisingly it pulls like a raped ape top end with out an exhaust.  im runnin the dpr7's and runnin only 93-94 but im goin to change the exhaust do a gal of race gas with rest of 93.  i checked the plugs besides being over loaded on fuel cuz i dont get to ride much to and from work 3 min ride the plugs are fouled out cuz of the cold starts.  but it seems to be runnin great no detination marks what so ever
