Right on!  Yes, mine is minus the loud noise that sounded like the damn engine was destroying itself from within too.  Hydraulic cam chain tensioner - gotta be the crappiest designed item Honda ever produced.

I modified an old FZR CCT and stuck it on mine.  Works great!

Is that what that annoying sound that makes the my bike sound like it is about to explode when I start it sometimes?  The CCT?  Makes that Clunkity clunk noise for about 1-3 minutes until I get the bike warmed up??  But even after I have been riding it for about 1-15 minutes and shut it off for about 5-10 minutes, when I start it up again it makes that clunkity clunk noise.

That's exactly what it is...the cam chain tensioner.See, the stock Honda CCT is oil pressure activated and over time wears out and starts to loose its ability to keep adequate tension on the chain...resulting in the valves being out of correct timing. So when your oil biulds up enough pressure to put tension on the chain, then the noise goes away...

See... my noise is even when my bike is warmed up meaning its my clutch. Because when I pull the lever in, its quite... and when I let it be, its clunking. Guess I gotta get a kevlar clutch kit...

Jahnaboi, all of our clutches do that, just the plates rattling around... I dont think it means anything is wrong, it doesn't happen all of the time for me though fortunately!

I just replaced my CCT with another stock hydraulic one. It still makes the same exact noise and I'm out 50-some beans! Do you guys think a manual one will fix it?. I've got a '92 F2 has 26K on it (Looks just like FNQuickF2's). The chain shouldn't be shot already, should it?

I've heard new hydraulic cct's being bad also...The manual cct works awesome...hand tighten till the noise goes away then set the lock nut...

On the new hydraulic ones, you have to hold them under oil and press the button in several times to "prime" the CCT.

Did you happen to do that?  It basically squeezes out the air and gets the oil in there.

Yeah, I primed it. I took it back out and reprimed it after the first time, thinking it got more air in it when I pushed it in. Same result. It's a stupid design, that's for sure! Have any of you ever heard of a cam chain breaking on these engines?

Well, if you're asking if your cam chain might have broken, the answer is if it still runs, it hasn't broken.

If you are asking if it is bad to run the engine with it making that clankety clank noise, it is probably not too bad, but I just couldn't stand the sound of it enough to the point where I had to do something.  I'd definately clean the one up that you bought and try to return it and get the manual one.

If you're wondering if you can break your cam chain by putting on a manual tensioner and tightening it too much, yes - I've heard others on the board talk about that.  The key is to put the manual CCT on just finger tight before starting your engine.  Then start the engine up and adjust it again by hand until just at the point where the noise is gone.  Then you use the jam nut to lock it in that spot.  Correct me if I'm wrong FNsmokNhotAVITAR.
