Who can tell me how far an '01 CBR 929RR will go once the gas light comes on? The manual says there is .92 gallons left once the light comes on but i've never ridden it out to see how far it goes. Can someone help me with this general knowledge?

take miles you get per tank, then divide it by how much your tank can hold then time that by .92 and that about how much you got.
So..

(miles per tank / Gallons your tanks holds ) * .92= mile you have when the gas light comes on.

or, run it till you run out of gas. hehehehe, i know it sounds unreasonable, but many people say they get a rush out of it. ever see that episode of seinfeld where krammer takes a car out for a test drive? hehehe

Thanks superbikesupply. I actually got closer to 30 like my friend said but your input will keep me cautious and not push it beyond 20.

My fuel light never comes on. Anyone know what could cause this?

Does it cycle on when you start the bike? If it does then most likely you don't let it get low enough to turn on. I've had to push 1 (yes, one, uno, un) bike because I ran out of gas and it won't happen again unless every gas station within 200 miles goes belly up at the same time. Pushing a motorcycle gets old fast!!

Try riding your bike until the gas light comes on and then continue to ride that day and the next in a downtown/city are (where there are plenty gas stations) until it runs out and see. Of course the outcome will be slightly different if your gas light came on and you were on the highway vs. doing stop & go's in a city area. This way you will be close to a local gas station.

I've run out of gas before. The light never came on to warn me. Could it maybe be the sensor?

yeah dude it is a rush...get white knuckles ridin/drivin keepin eyes peeled for the nearest gas station...done it on my 954...about 25miles past light on...and in my bmw past the miles 'til empty counter...its a great time HA HA HA...some advice to others that get stuck in the situation with bikes...if your riding with another biker and he/she runs out of gas just ride along side of them and put ur foot on the back of their foot peg...works well if u have one rider on either side...have done that with family members before
