Well, been riding for thirty years. Uugg, showing my age. Started with dirtbikes, like many. My father arranged for me to race motocross the summer I was thirteen. At the time it was unheard of for a girl to be racing motorcycles. I actually placed third once and had some AMA points though. I do remember some of the boys who weren't racing trying to give me a hard time. Figured they were jealous and ignored them. When I turned 16 not only did I have a car but I had a motorcycle. Yep, it is the 78 Hawk TII (400 two cyclinder, 5speed), rescued it from a friends barn for $300. It appears I need to rescue it again now from my parents barn. My first husband, who didn't like motorcycles, insisted I store it in Indiana while I was pregnant with my daiughter. That was 19 years ago. I plan to go retrieve it next weekend. {showing age again } The pic is me on the CBR at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL in August. It was the last track day of the season for me. Going through withdraws... I recommend track time it is a good way to improve your skills in a controlled environment. I'm even thinking about trying racing. Possibly CCS or AHRMA. My first love is the dirt but the body can't take that pounding anymore. If you haven't guessed, the XR100 was purchased for my daughter's tenth birthday. Yes, she learned to ride but she not all that interested. Her step father and I drive her nuts the obsession. We use the XR now as a pit bike. She does ride from time to time. On the none riding side of things, my husband has written for Motorcycle Consumer News - been on it's cover, I did their website for a time. We also are what I call MotoPhotogs and have done corner work. Check out or site: www.motocentral.com
