Ok, i just got my forks back from the shop with all new seals and all that good stuff
i put them back in the triple clamp, and now im installing the front wheel. I put the speedo pickup and spacer in place correctly so far as i know, but when i tighten the big bolt on the axle, it binds everything up tight. Am i supposed to put a certain tension on the bolt, then tighten the pinch bolts to keep this setting?
also, the wheel wobbles on the shaft even when the axle is tight, so i guessing im in serious need of bearings.

thanks in advance

you may want to check the wheel bearing area and the spacers. you could be binding up around the hub somewhere. tighten the axle bolt first before tightening the axle pinch bolts on the fork legs. this should put things center and square. make sure all bearing and coller surfaces are clean of dirt or grit.

if you take the wheel off and put the axle in, is there alot of play? if so, then you more than likely need new bearing. you can knock them out and check the bearing play and the races. see if they are worn. this could be the case depending on how often the bearings were re-packed with grease and the number of miles the bearing have.

you shouldn't have any play when the axle and pinch bolts are tight. i can't be sure offhand, but i think the pinch bolts are tightened to 15-20 psi and 40 psi on the axle.
