bleh...paddles are so '00, all they do now is push a button to change one of seven gears up to 19k rpms...in a V8...it's essentially an automatic gearbox. There's a push to change the rules back to mechanical linkage for '09, restoring 'driver control'...

...just in case you really, really needed to know that

Hmmmm...don't know. I think tiptronic is exclusively Porsche, where you just flick the shifter to change gears, kind of like a paddle, just not sitting behind the wheel. F1 drivers, at least the top teams, just push a button when the row of indicator lights on the steering wheel tells them the engine is near redline. I do know paddle-shifting Ferrari road cars have been around since the mid nineties and now you can get it in a hum drum Mitsu SUV...it's been so long since I read car and evo and TopGear and R&T religiously. I stick to just F1 and Motorcyclist these a days and TG on the telly.
