My 92 600f2 has been having some problems recharging the battery.  I'm a mechanic by no means but I know how to turn a wrench so I thought I'd give it a shot.  First of all the bike will start but a few miles into a ride the bike will die and not want to turn over.  I got a new battery and regulator but sure enough when I rev it up to 5-8k rpm the voltage will drop to 5-7v and from my understanding if it's working correctly it should be around 14-15v..  I checked the resistance of the yellow wires at the point the plug into the r/r and it was about 2ohms.  Traced the wires back to the fuse box and the resistance is ok (.02ohm for each).  Now I'm trying to test the wire from the fuse box to the alternator but I can't seem to get the alternator cover off.  I removed all the bolts but the dman thing is still stuck on there.  I looked in my service manual and  I followed the procedure but it's like its glued on or something.

From your guys experience does this sound like a failed stator?

im having the same problem with my bike, took it to the shop and they told me it needed an stock r/r. i already bought an alternator and 2 aftermarket r/r but some how the aftermarket r/r keeps blowing up and the battery gets no charge. as far as removing the stator cover, you might feel its like "stuck" but what really happens is that the magnet is keeping the cover on, so all you have to do is grab the up and down or left right side and pop it out. try to pull it off by grabbing the two sides at the same time.
