I have recently purchsed a CBR 600F, year 2000. It has a carbon can fitted but no baffle. The can sounded ok but it was a bit loud for me so I decided to buy a baffle from ebay which claimed that the baffle was for viper sports cans. I received the baffle and fitted it. bike sounds a lot better. But my mate at work said that I could damage my engine by putting this baffle in. does anybody know if this is correct. thanks!

Think your buddy is ummm mistaken. lol. If your bike was tuned for the can w/o the baffle it may need retuned (rejetted).

Thanks for your quick response. I've had the bike serviced and at the time I didn't think there was any problems with putting a new baffle in, so I didn't mention to the mechanic about the exhaust. According to the list of jobs he's done as part of the the service, he's ballenced the carbs. Would he have known at this stage that the carbs needed rejetting? What would the implications be of not getting it rejetted, if it needs to be done? Could this damage the engine?
