Anyways went on the highway for the 1st time today and I have a HJC CL-15 and it felt like it was going to fly off my head when iturned to check traffic on the highway. The Shoei helmets are designed in a wind tunnel to minimize this problem. My HJC AC12 had the same problem you have but my Shoei X11 doesn't have that problem at all and it is lighter much lighter. A lot of the riders here also like Scorpion helmets, Suomy, and Arai helmets.

Scorpion, Suomy, Shoei, and Arai helmets are all great. I love my Scorpion helmet that I wear on the track then I have an AGV I wear on the street. Shoei cost a lot, and is not any better in crash test. Get the one that fits you head the best.

My Scorpion EXO-700 has been great. I had to wash the pads this past week because they began to reek after three months of use in hot weather.

The Shoei RF-1000's fit me better than the X-11's. And Arai's just didn't feel good. Just make sure you try them all and go with the one that fits best. Also, I prefer Snell approved helmets. Most have this rating. Which is as important as fit IMO.

Do u think it could be the size of the helmet that is causing the problem...for example I have heard that the size of a helmet can change the weight etc..I wear an XL would these other helmets really have that much of an effect...thanks

Yes, I think the size of the Helmet has a lot to do with the problem you are describing. You have a pretty large sized Helmet. Just for the heck-of-it, go to a motorcycle shop and try a large and see how that fits. It should be snug. Not uncomfortably snug. Just that it should not be moving around inside with the straps connected. quote:

I now have a new scorpion exo 1000. I would check it out for sure! Tonight was the first cool night. Put it on pumped it up to fit, closed vents. 75mph turn head and it feels like part of your head very warm and little noise. If you can get one. I hear they are on back order. Had mine 3 weeks and love it!

I just got an RF-1000, definatly like it, pretty quiet (although i havent gone over 70 while wearing it yet) the shop I tried them on at didnt carry x-11s so i dont know how those fit. (fitted at the shop but bought online, kind of a dick move but saved me about 70 bucks.) I also didnt get an x11 i wasnt in the mood to spend 600 bucks on helmet. the only gripe I have with the rf-1000 is that it feels like my chin sticks out the bottom, I realy have to work it down on my head to feel like its put. and i have heard the x11 doesnt have this problem.

But your hieght on the bike also effects air flow over your body on the bike. I personally own a exo700 and love it..Its fairly quiet but anyone riding for long periods(over 10~15mins) should wear earplugs (this makes things really quiet and you can actually hear BETTER without all the wind noise).

A correct size helmet should not feel like its going to come off. I see a bunch of people wearing Larges and Extra Larges. My head is 22 1/2inch and I wear a Small and I bet I could fit into an Extra Small. It extremely tight when you first wear it but it loosens up. My KBC VR2 doesn't move at all in the wind even if I'm looking to my side.
