Why is it when a girl gets real interested in you, she wants you to get rid of your bike??? This has happened to a few of my friends. And now is starting to happen to me. There is no way in hell I'm going to stop riding because of this. I call them "Motorcycle Killers". I know there are some women who don't care, and my GF's always say they don't mind... but later it's brought-up like "It's the Bike or Me" shit. I guess it's going to be the bike for now. I'm not whipped!

A good woman wouldn't make you choose and would get into your hobby to do something with you.

Man, this brings back memmories. Sorry man, hang in there. Lucky for me my girlfriend loves my bike. She isn't interested in riding on it with me, she just likes it because I like it so much.

If she ever get's to the point of telling you "Its the bike or me" Just let her know that she is cheapening the relationship to use it as a bargaining chip to get you to do what she wants you to do. And that you tought your relationship was worth more than that. If she really loves you she wouldn't give you an ultimatum over something as (relatively) frivolous as that.

I can see a significant other being worried to some extent becuase of how dangerous the sport can be, but trying to tell you out right to sell the bike or loss them is really selfish in my opinion

For a girl's view...I have to agree that as much as concern for your safety is understood, making you choose isn't right. It's healthy to have your own hobbies. Ideally she'll appreciate and maybe wanna ride herself... If she does not and continues to give you an ultimatum, might be time to find someone that will love you for you, or maybe even someone that loves riding already!

I didnt ask her advice at all. I took the motorcycle course with friends, passed the course and bought a bike with insurance all done in a week. My gf tried to stop me riding bike few times but I stood really strong. Now, she gaveup asking me stop riding my bike and she said she will take the motorcycle course for me.

i'd just say " dont let the door hit ya on the way out !" sorry . bikes are my passion . if you cant understand that then you dont understand me ! see ya . thats how i am . but you have to make the effort to get them in to it .. try and take them for a couple of good rides ( nothing to twisty just some good back roads that really show the good side of riding ) and then maybe you can get her in to riding her own bike . theres nothing hotter then a chick on a bike :) ...

I broke up with a woman over something similar. I was dropping a new engine into my car (because it was the only car I had, therefore I had to fix it). Anyway, I had to drop in the new motor (and that doesn't take hours, it takes days). So, I'm working on it for about a week, and was just about done. She came over one night, furious at something (probably talked to her b***hes she calls her "friends") and pulls the "It's me or the car." Now, .........I HATE drama, and people who cause it, ESPECIALLY when it's over something as stupid as me fixing my car so I can get to work and back without bumming rides. So, I calmly said "I don't have time for this right now, I really have to get my car fixed, and I work in the morning." and then she bursts out in tears, accusing me of loving my car more than her. (even though I explained that it was my ONLY transportation at the time and I NEEDED to fix it so I would have a car for work/school/etc.) As she stood there, shouting and crying like a little 10-year old (she was 21, so was I).......I just looked at her with a disgusted look on my face, not even trying to comfort her. I explained to her again why I was fixing my car...........this only made things worse. All this happened on a freezing December evening (cold as f**k), so I asked her to leave (with her b***h friends waiting in her car) so I could close the garage door and get back to what I was doing. Her reply........"Fine! I'm dumping you anyway!" And my reply........."I'm not the one crying, am I?", picked up a socket-wrench and closed the garage door. And that was that. I couldn't believe I actually put up with someone like that for so long. Glad it's over. I would do the same thing if she pulled the "it's the bike or me" crap too. Now it's just me, and my soon-to-be adopted puppy. (and I'm glad.) Drama = Stress........and bills give me enough stress as it is.

Take it from a guy who is probably much older than you with an addiction to motorcycling that goes way back... It should always be the bike. Girls that "make" you sell your bike, will "make" you do many more things down the road. You can sell the bike to make her happy, but thats only a start... dont get controlled by anyone, keep your passion. Find a woman that respects your ride, and your desire to ride.

I agree with all the comments.. so far. But how many are married and have children. I think down the road if/when that happens it changes. That's what has happened to a lot of my friends. I'm keeping my bike. No doubt there. And I'm not married/NC.

any woman who forces such a decision is not a woman, she is nothing more then a child with such a behavior. As others have said over time she will demand you to do other things as well..... she will lose respect towards you and walk all over you when ever she wants. So lose the chick, and find a new one.
