Hello everyone! Here's some new pics of my '91 f2 that still doesn't run. I have carbs that are awaiting install and a front rim to replace the bent one that came w/ my bike. For those who don't know what happened, I traded my excellent condition '97 VFR 750 for a sight-unseen '91 f2 with a claimed 19,900 miles. Today I spent about 4 hrs cleaning the bike and adding touch-up paint. I don't have money for any mechanical fixes...even the rusty chain is still there. BEFORE cleaning: Frame looks good, no dings! All electrical wires appear in place, no leaks that I can see, oil is clean. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture044.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture051-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture046.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture048-1.jpg Front rim that the seller sent me after I complained about the bent rim that came with the bike...before cleaning. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture037-1.jpg *****AFTER cleaning I used red and white touch-up paint on all scratches and using goof-off/simple green to remove all black tar stains. Some of the red (it's actually orange colored now) paint on the headlight cowl began to rub off with the goof-off! But I think it looks a lot better, all the tiny black tar dots that were all over the right side of the fairing and even the engine covers are gone. I only spent about $60 to do this myself. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture059.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture053.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture056.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture057.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture054-1.jpg Front Rim after cleaning! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture052.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture055.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/broke/Picture060.jpg * I also checked all the turn signals, headlights, horn...and everything works even the license plate light Anyway just wanted to keep you all updated, I have saved $240 so far for the mechanical stuff...I will wait until I have about $1,000 before I take it to the shop for carb install, front rim install, rear sprocket, new chain, fork re-sealing, new seat covering ...etc... THanks for reading!

Hey bro! That thing looks GREAT!!! As far as the little rust pits on the tank. Go to the hardware store and get something called Naval Jelly. It will chemically convert rust into something that is paintable. Then hit the spots with your touch up paint. Otherwise having the tank repainted could be pretty spendy! Man, you should really try to put that other bank of carbs on yourself. It's not that hard. Just a matter of putting things back on the same way they came off. Nice work! P

carbs could have to be synched, unless you've got your hands on some mercury it's best to go to the dealer for that :D

Yeah, I guess you got a good point there. But if it were me. I'd be so damn anxious to hear it run that I'd have to get them on myself - even if it didn't exactly purr like a kitten.

Synching the carbs are super easy (once you have the tank and airbox off). Motion Pro has a new synchronizer available that doesn't use mercury. Works really well. Costs about $100.

Lookin' real good MT! It already looks like a different bike! Keep up the good work! As for the carbs, I have faith in you that you can do it. Excecpt for the whole lopsided trade, you seem to have your head on straight. Go slow, write things down if you must, and just do it!

I have a buddy who owned an F2, and he offered to help me with the carbs. I may take him up on the offer Thanks!
