I'm 15 minutes away from the Laguna Seca track and used to do several track days there about 5 years ago. There's always been a sound level restriction for track days there, currently 92 dB, and the sound police sit in a booth on the exit of turn 5 though do occasionally walk over to the entrance of turn 5.

Not all track day providers "require" that you show up with stock exhausts but the responsibility lies with the rider, you may want to check with the outfit you intend to run with. If you exceed the noise level you will get black flagged, last I checked you typically get a chance to "correct" the situation but if black flagged again your day is done.

Some providers such as Keigwins have gone to stock exhausts only because of all the violatons and the fact that even some stock exhausts these days surpass 92 dB. It makes it more difficult for the track day providers to deal with Monterey County if there's excessive violations.

In recent years they have developed the surrounding hills with million dollar homes so I suspect that may now be adding to the strict enforcement.

I agree it sucks, I did my first ever track days there and had a stock exhaust at the time but have since modded up. If you ride with an outfit that still allows aftermarket exhausts a strategy often used is to roll-off through turn 5 and keep the RPM's down but that sucks also since it's a fun corner to really rail out of.

If you have stock exhaust or opt to ride with an outfit that supplies the bikes you probably won't have any concerns, if your pipe is loud watch out for the mean lady in the booth!

Just got back from the California Superbike School at Laguna Seca. Incredible. I posted a thread all about it in the Off-Topic section titled "Laguna Seca was AWESOME".
