They help prevent tank slappers, and yes they are important to have, unless of coarse you like having tank slappers happen to you.

A tank slapper can happen from a stoppie or a wheelie. When your up in a wheelie, and you put the front end down a little crooked, the handle bars will start slapping back and fourth where you cant control it,and you will most likely be kissing the pavement seconds after. A steering damp will help eliminate head shake by making the front much more stiff. You can adjust them to what ever firmness you like. Go with a scotts damp, costs around 4 or 5 hundred. But will save your arse. Plenty of tank slappers on u tube if you want to see one. Or if you want to expierence one for your self,go do a wheelie, and put your front end down a little crooked. You'll be sliding on the pavement in no time

I dont think thats going to work for you, I could be wrong. I think an aftermarket one will be easier to mount and fab brackets for.

I care and you are incorrect.

There is only one correct spelling for this item and on that note, apparently there are alot of companies existing that either can't spell or don't know what a "damper" really is.

And since I can appreciate education I'd only buy from the company that spells it correctly--> d-a-m-p-e-r.

The word "dampen" or the phrase "dampen down" is about the only time an "N" can be used with regards to describing the function of a damper....anything else and it's just "wet" or horribly misspelled.

Anyways, just wondering, for those who use a Scotts Steering "STABILIZER", what settings do you guys use???  I'm factory setting for the high speed and about 15 clicks counter clockwise from fully locked.
