Any info on a good slip on system. Leaning toward not so loud. About to do my 4k check up. Should I do a different filter with the pipe then. Should I let the dealer do the exaust. How hard is it and does it void warrenties? Thanks

a lot of info can be had by searching but here goes. you really dont need an aftermarket filter. the ability to clean and reuse is nice although there is a reported gain of 2hp with bmc race filters. exhaust especially slip ons are easy. there is a write up on how to do it on www.hooliganbiketech.net there is a sound clip of a lot of pipes on this site. not a good rendition but gives you an idea look for the arata link on the site. it will walk you through step by step. also hardracing.com has a real good write up. for slip ons you cant go wrong with arata, akro, hamaguchi or sato also look at leo vince or arrow yosh is pretty popular and doesnt sound bad just doesnt really produce as much power as the above pipes

I have an Akro under the tree. Out of the top performers I liked the look of it the best. I figure it will make for better posing. With 90+ posts I'm sure you have an idea of which way you want to go already. I understand the dilemma. At $500.00 a pop it's not an easy choice. The power commander is a must. I'd see if you can get away with putting that under the tree while your at it.

I put a Micron twin outlet slip-on last year. I don't think it did much for performance. It has a stock look, but is a bit lighter. I love the sound. Its not way too loud like the D&D I had on my 954. Also, it has an awesome deep rumble at about 5,000 rpm.

there is a used Sato Ti oval slip on on 1000rr.net. that is my pipe of choice and i love the way it sounds. it also seems to have given the bike much better midrange. i tried getting my buddy with an 04 to buy it but he says he is not ready to pull the trigger on a pipe. it is a smokin deal too!
