    just talked to my dealer
he knew about the recall but honda hasnt told them how to proceed with fixing it yet
he said that it will be fine to ride.

and you smell gas on this bike a lot
there is a tank vent tube hanging down that vents vapors from the tank

I just went by my dealer today to try and get a price on a pipe since they gave me 40% off prices of aftermarket parts when I bought it and while there they mentioned the recall. I had no clue and no leak/smell of gas yet but will be getting it fixed next week when they get the parts in. Keeping it/riding until then. 3100mi and perfect riding here in Phoenix today. Glad no leaks yet. Could've ruined my day off. Atleast they're fixing them though.

Got my official recall notice in the mail yesterday

Basically it says they will replace your fuel tank if needed.

Came with a second form for the people who have already paid for repairs for reimbursement.

Wow, about time.

They need to do this with the Cam Chain Tensioners...

At least Honda is not like a Triumph.

A big POS. Haha..

WTF?
I just checked at http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/Maintenance/maint_recalls.asp
Did a recall search on my vin # and came back as:

quote:

There are no current safety recalls for your 2006 Honda Cbr1000rr.

There's a thread on 1000rrdotnet that had my vin listed as being affected.

Just got my notice in the mail today. Will not be taking the whole bike down since my dealer's service dept is full of retards. I may remove the tank and hand it to them.

I took mine down yesterday and they said they needed to have it all day long. well I told them I would come back after the x-mas. But since I am going to be getting a new airfilter installed soon too I am just going to get the guy doing the airfilter to take off the tank and I will take the tank to them so I don't need to loose more then one day of riding.

Yup, the dealer came and picked up my '07 Repsol last week and had the tank replaced and the bike back to me the next day.  Still haven't gotten a recall letter yet.  My VIN was in the suspect group.

I bought a new 2007 Honda CBR1000RR on 11-27-2007 from Marysville Powersports in Marysville, OH. The day the e-mail was sent out from Honda to all dealers issuing a stop sale notice. Nice of them to tell me that!!! They ordered me a new tank due to this recall, but could not tell me if my bike fell in the recall status with the VIN number. Where can I check this info?

OK, the recall letter arrived in the mail today, Dec 24th.
I tried the link to the Honda site posted earlier and it show's there are no recall notices on my VIN!
I think that's called getting the cart in front of the horse.............
