Not sure if its the same road but... My brother stays in auburn about 20 miles north of sac. there are two roads up there old highway 49 and old highway 40. no where near 600 turns but just about the finest couple of miles i ever went through. nicely paved and during the week it was dead as a ghost town.... really enjoyed them. they are near the forest hill exit of highway 80 east.

enjoy..

Try Mosquito Ridge. Take I-80 east to Auburn, Foresthill Road to Mosquito Ridge. Follow Mosquito ridge to the reservoir then turn around and come back. You will not regret it!!!!!!

Here's a map, it's one of the best roads in Cali! Watch out, it's heavily patroled.
