About to send the frame of the F4i to get powdercoated. The sticker with the model/year/VIN on the side got trashed, but no biggie, since I get a new one with the import process. My worry is the VIN on the neck near the forks; its engraved on the frame, but I'm worried the coating process will fill it in or totally cover it, rendering it invisible. Anybody get their frame powdercoated, or know if the process will cover the VIN - and if there's a way to protect it?

well i am sure he could ask but i am thinking he is curious if anyone knows....having had a bunch of stuff powdercoated, it will depend on how thick a coat they use...some coaters use a very thin coat which will likely not affect the VIN stamp at all...some use a heavy coat...IF they use a heavy coat, you'll still probably be able to make out the VIN but you'll have to really look at it....

you can either have them block off that area, or just ask them if they use a thin coat or not...also your color will also affect its visibility...but not too bad...

i don't know for sure...best thing to do is ask...

Don't cover the VIN number.
