NINE2NINE -> photo in signature (12/24/2005 9:28:20 PM)

ive noticed many people have pictures for their signature. how exactly do you do this and does the file need to be a certain format or size? please explain this as simply as possible (i have a -2 iq when it comes to computer issues.) thanks

in the signature box on your profile setup page, use the [ image ] ... [ /image ] tags with the internet address of whatever picture you want to use in the signature. (eg: "http://www.pictureplace.com/mypics/forumsig.jpg") so basically, your only challenge is to have an image you want to use stored somewhere on the internet.

Basically you'll need a photo account that allows hosting on other websites. Some are restricted and won't copy over. You may want to try creating a photbucket account. That is what I use.

Opie21 -> RE: photo in signature (3/30/2006 10:52:07 PM)

Ok somebodys gotta help me out here. I think I'm doing everything right, but obviously not since theres still no pic! I go into my profile, go to the 'signature' box, click on the PGD Code button and copy the image tabs. Then I copy the IMG adress from my photobucket account and paste it into the tabs. Am I doing everything right. or am I missing something?

doncollins -> RE: photo in signature (3/31/2006 5:16:11 AM)

Opie... change the address from photobucket to use image instead of img in there link. That should work. If not PM me and I'll help you out. I'll be out of two for the weekend so it'll take me a few days to get back to you.

Opie21 -> RE: photo in signature (3/31/2006 12:26:34 PM)

crap! i am so computer illiterate its not even funny! ok, so this whole time i've been talking about my signature, i've actually meant my avatar. i thought the signature was the pic that went to the left of the post, and the avatar was the pic that went below it. ok, so now that i figured that out, i can get it no problem, but i do have 1 more question: what size does the pic have to be for my avatar?

Opie21 -> RE: photo in signature (3/31/2006 12:35:15 PM)

on the same note, i do want to post a pic in my signature, but, i want it to be one of those cool banner-type pics everyone seems to have lol. whats the best way to do this? should i just put the pic i want into microsoft paint and crop it there?

MgA_ODEN -> RE: photo in signature (3/31/2006 1:45:23 PM)

That , or post it here and have one of us hack it for ya.

Opie21 -> RE: photo in signature (4/1/2006 2:50:10 PM)

hmmm, not sure what you mean by "hack it", but sounds good to me lol. its funny that youre the one that answered this post, because your signature pic kind of inspired me to make one in sort of the same style (a banner-type showing only a section of the bike). also, can someone tell me the required dimensions of an avatar pic?

there are no "required" dimensions -- but as a rule of thumb keep it small, so as not to offend others reading through the forum and having to sift through huge sig images.

Opie21 -> RE: photo in signature (4/3/2006 10:25:57 PM)

right, but just how small is small? i really have very poor computer knowledge, so does anyone know the actual number values of the dimensions of a 'standard' avatar pic?
