My bike does 160 KPH in 6th @6000RPM - If you drop two teeth on the rear sprocket you will gain around 350RPM, by my calculations at that speed, so work on a good bit less, around 220revs at 100 KPH. (but I'm no Einstein, I type with two fingers) Changing the front by only one tooth will give you 1/17 or 5.88 % direct power increase, the rear only 2/42 or 4.77% less revs at the same speed 100 KPH. BUT it will also increase your fuel consumption by that much, if not more. I dropped TWO teeth on the front, to 15 teeth, and there wasn't anything short of a new GSX1000 or Blade that could trouble me. R6/600 Blades were a joke......so, if you want economy, drop a couple of teeth on the rear, if you want a wheelie machine, two off the front will give you a severe case of post-traumatic ring flutter......... the choice is yours....

Hurricanes were exported to all corners of the globe - I've seen California models in Poland. Yours looks like a British model that maybe had it's headlight changed for the Continent - Don't they ALL drive on the wrong side of the road over there ? He he We also have a few of the CBR750F's over here - bit of a rarity.....colour schemes are also different, sort of anthracite black with red lettering, totally different to the 1000F.Attached is a pic of a friend's 1000F, here in SA.

u can trace where they come from via the chassis number, but mine doesnt register in any manuals ive seen, dont think the headlight has been changed as there are no signs to show that, (usualy u can see if bolts have been undone etc) my chassis numer starts sc25 2301 which in the hanynes manual says in 1992 there wasnt one produced?????????? shows how good that manual is, also the previous owner (70 od years old) stated he bought the bike from a bike shop as a fresh import in 1995, and he was the only owner in england apart from now me, but dont know what km were on it, but it sat in his back garden for like at least 5 years and he hardly used it, i bought it for £800

I thought robbery was a crime, even in New Zealand......he he what a bargain. Mine starts SC24, and was produced in 1990, so yours may have been built in 1991, but only delivered in 1992....? Haynes manual I think only shows a limited number of countries to which these bikes were exported. The German bikes don't seem to feature in Haynes either....don't know about the continentals...

Well personally, I quite like Floogers, Punter and MikeHop's rides. I like clean and stock. With exception to after-market exhaust, everything should be left the same. I can say I've seen many different flavours of CBR's. I find the range up to 93 a bit, I dont know like 80's space-aged. I thinkits the larger front fender and colour schemes. Dont get me wrong, I love all lines of CBR's but the later ones appeal more to me. The red is nice but it looks too much like its trying to imitate a VFR, which I think is due for a little more colour style, its just too plain. Black is the only colour I can stomach. It must be hard to keep those white rims clean from dust and dirt!!

Why would a Hurricane want to imitate a wannabee superbike like a VFR ? - the thing's neither fish nor fowl, not strong enough for a high speed sports tourer, and definitely no superbike...... he he let the VFR boys see that one..... As for the white rims, they're a PIG to keep clean, but when they are, they're really smart looking. I wouldn't change them because I too like a bike to look stock, but if I ever buy another bike it won't have white rims !! The later Hurricanes had a number of advantages like better brakes etc, and looked a bit more modern, but I still think that even in today's world the older CBR can hold its head up.... Nice pic.....whose the photographer.....lol One thing that I noticed on that picture you added. The plastic cover that pushes into the tail section just under the seat area. Is it just my bike or do they all seem a bit loose? The on in the picture has a pretty good gap in hers. I wonder if there is a way to tighten up the connection. I might try some foam spacers or something along that idea. Anyone else run into this?

On my model there are rubber bits that interlock with holes on the bit you mentioned - bit of a design flaw I feel - would have been better if they had been more securely attached, as when the bikes get older the rubber goodies are inclined to break off - you can fix the problem with some rubber from mudflaps, but there's always a bit of a gap, especially with the pressure of a back box on the sidepods,,,,,,,,

Hey Mark, nice bike! I'm curios on how you managed to put 74.000 km on it without rubbing off colour just above the foot peg, that black stripe on the bottom of the side under-seat-fairing? Only explanation I can see is that you never ride with leathers and real motorcycle boots? Or you had it repainted. What's that little plastic box beside the right side passanger foot peg? Registration papers holder?
