I used to love my old 92 1000 F, sold her with 97,000 Kls on her, she was a grand lady. Upgraded to an 06 Bird last year and she has taken the crown for me. Thumbnail Image

ORIGINAL: mikekop Hey Mark, nice bike! I'm curios on how you managed to put 74.000 km on it without rubbing off colour just above the foot peg, that black stripe on the bottom of the side under-seat-fairing? Only explanation I can see is that you never ride with leathers and real motorcycle boots? Or you had it repainted. What's that little plastic box beside the right side passanger foot peg? Registration papers holder? Well i've only done 4,000kms since I bought it at the beginning of 2004, and 900kms of that was the trip home to Melbourne from Canberra as I took a flight interstate to buy it. The bike's previous owner bought it brand new, elderly fellow who had a pristine late model Mercedez Benz S-class and a huge mansion of a home, everything was spotless; so I had comfort in knowing he took pride in his belongings. I was told that most of its 70,000kms travelling time was spent on country roads at 80/100kph, it's had very little stop/start traffic type riding. I had no idea the bottom side panels would wear over time.. certainly hasn't in this case (and it's definitely the original decal - ie. not resprayed) Perhaps it does have to do with the type of gear one rides with, though sometimes I do ride with boots/leathers... but more often than not I dont go to that effort and typically ride with jeans and casual shoes. The plastic holder is what contains the VICRoads registration sticker, yep. It needs to be made visible somewhere on the bike, it's where the previous guy had it and it's out of the way so i've left it there. It's sunday, today I get out the spit and polish and give her a THOROUGH going over, more pics during the week folks.

So at X Mass time my wife and I headed over to England and took all the plastics to the spray painter and said Jaz her up its a damb nice paint too takes on many shade of orange to red, plus the metal flake through out. Shes a one off now. Now I can be see very easily on the road but will have to watch my wrist bending too much. Thumbnail Image

Dragon, I am leavng the decalls off as I have onlly put the CBR back on. Like Mikekop has said it just about doesnt need stickers. I did place the two big XX on the panniers as they are Mirrored Chrome. You get people look at it and sratch their head ( So you know they dont know bikes properly ) and then they either come for a closer look or simply or the question. What is it, HAH then I have their ear for a half an hour.

Waz. I must say. That is the sweetest looking Bird I have ever seen! It's stunning. A one of a kind, and then some!

Thanks Noe, not sure with the panniers as we do a bit of touring on her too I was thinking of getting just the sides of the boxes painted but not sure if it would be too much as on trip sI usually have the Bagstar tank bra on too and its black as well.

Well I assumed that the tire was original only because of the date code on it, but I guess theres a chance that it's not, dopey me......... And yes I will be changing both tires very soon, so I can ride it more. Had it out last nite but wasn't pushing it because of the age of the tires. Haven't been on the Hurricane that much since I picked up an '06 VTX 1300 last July. Wife and I spend time on that, but I still love the Hurricane.
