gosh i'm so pissed. i forgot since its a pretty cold day outside today, around high 30's, the tires are still pretty cold and not all warmed up yet. i turned into a traffic filled street and the bike just spun out from under me in the middle of the road. i only have a scuff on my knee and i had all my gear so it's all good.

the bike was just scuffed up where the engine cover is for the oil tank, the fairings are spotless. it looks like that part can be easily replaced, is that true?

nice thing was, the people were very nice at helping me. one person gave me a hand lifting the bike up, the other stopped to see if i was in good shape to ride home. very nice people, i'm just lucky they stopped...

You were lucky. My first low side (70 mph on an interstate) the person saw it happen, hit the brakes and then kept going. Never stopped. My second accident, (when a car pulled out and t-boned it), no one got out or even asked if I was alright. Another biker stopped a while later to ask if I needed a ride. But that was it.

Where do you live? Southern NM is full of jackasses. Glad to hear you're alright though.

Yes, I am very careful for the first few miles until the tires are warmed. It's an easy mistake. Glad you are okay.

i live in dallas texas, so the people are very nice here. i was surprised actually. also it makes my mad because my frame sliders were coming in the mail later this week, i could've saved my bike from being damage if i was careful.

do u kno if that part that covers the oil tan can be taken off and replaced? its the only part that is scuffed up.

I think you are talking about a clutch cover. That can be replaced for a 100 or so bucks.

If you ride within your limits you won't. I've been riding for ten plus years on three Honda's and have yet to set any down. The MSF courses have kept me from going crazy and driving defensively. I've had close calls, but have been able to recover because I ride the speed limit and prepare for the worst situation. My eyes are always scanning. Using this and proper techniques. You'll be fine.

I was on an interstate (well, an interstate that had a turn lane in the middle to turn into a national park.) It's a LONG turn lane/slow down lane that is easily several hundred feet long, and I changed into the turn lane to slow down to turn into the national park (which is White Sands......where they filmed Transformers). I was going to take pics of my bike with the white sand dunes and sunset in the background. They just paved the road, and the turn lane was filled with black gravel (which at dusk, looks exactly like pavement). Since the turn lane is essentially a slow down lane too, I was still doing about 75 mph when I started to apply the brakes. The second I did this, POOF, the front end gave out and met the pavement for the first time. Frame sliders saved most of it though (other than the rear tail which was only rashed up a little on the side)

so the part that covers the oil tank part is the clutch cover? i guess it won't be that bad to replace, but its not even that bad either. i took matte black spray paint and now its not even noticeable. anyways, yea i needed to get a pair of frame sliders, they're coming in this week, it sucks that i had to lowside it before then. i was so pissed off. well thanks for everyone's posts! i'm glad you guys are loking out for each other
