Anyone who's done this know if I can keep my 06 current undertray and battery to do the mod or is it absolutely necessary to have the 01-03 battery box and undertray????   Any help appreciated.  Thanks

Save yourself some time and just spnd all the time and money on a conversion on a newer model bike, or buy a single or split seat
as a whole piece and mount it on your bike made by a reputable company for your bike.

I will never sit there and try to make something look like something it is not.
I spent enough time, effort and stpid cash to where I could have just gotten a second job and bought a new bike...messing with
my F2.

The only guy on here I have seen do a GOOD mod is RSP and his single sided  CBR, Ducati, creation.

Oh crap, it's 1am...getting cynical.

you need th 01 - 03 undertray. Only exception is if you get the undertail that has the battery tray etc intregated in to it. Seen a few of these on here. Other than that you will need one off a 01 -03.

Or you could sell it for the money to buy parts that will give you greater benefits. The only benefit of the split seat that I know of is for stunters who are doing seat stands and whatnot that want more of a ledge to grip on to. As far as riding the motorcycle through turns and whatnot, it's not going to make any difference. I would spend the money on real upgrades. Just my $0.02

I think it looks better with the dual seat! I know the passenger pegs won't fit either. We used the 05 undertray on my buddies conversion and it sticks out below the fairing pretty bad but it's a stunter so who really cares. Pretty stunt bikes are for those without the skill to make a crappy bike look good

So it can be done with an 04-06 undertray just need to cut/modify it then with a dremel.  What about your buddies unterdail?  Did that line up with the holes underneath or did you have to mod/drill new holes  for an undertail if he even had one?

No undertail! The tray hangs down below the tail fairing (when he actually puts it on). If you want to make it look good get the 01-03 tray or if you want trim what you don't need. You can make anything work with enough tools and beer.
