Favorite Track?

cozye -> Favorite Track? (1/5/2008 6:53:38 PM)

What's everyones favorite track to ride on? I saw a similar thread on another forum and was surprised that some top tier tracks did not get mentioned!

I've been to 3 tracks but only have ridden on Mid Ohio. I love that track though, so I'm sure even though I'll probably do a couple of different tracks this year, MO is going to be at the top!

First choice is always Road America with Blackhawk Farms as a runner up.

Jaybird180 -> RE: Favorite Track? (1/6/2008 10:25:28 AM)

I've only been to 5 roadrace tracks (lifetime total) and rode 2 so I can't say I have a qualified opinion.

I do enjoy watching on TV Road America & Atlanta

Mid Ohio is the only track I have ridden so far, but it was a blast.  It has elevation changes, keyholes, and just about everything else.  I would like to ride VIR, I hear it is also a great track.

I think my favorite track will soon be the one they are building just up the road from me and cozye ..http://www.drivebluegrass.com/

the ones I've ridden in order of preference:

1. Barber; home sweet home
2. Road Atlanta; fun as hell even on an SV650
3. Jennings; Hell of a lotta fun but I've had a lot of bad luck there
4. Miller West; did the Freddie Spencer school there, that part of the track is kinda plain but still fun
5. Roebling Road; liked it but didn't have a good weekend there
6. Talladega; it only has ONE right turn and some really funky corners, just not my type of track
7. CMP; hated the track at first, surface is crap but the layout is fun.  Its almost like two completely different tracks joined together
8. Nashville; facility was the best I've been to but the track was very strange, transitions on/off the banking were really f'ed up, then a friend of mine got hurt pretty good there

Only ridden on MAM and BIR.

MAM is my prefernce of those two as it is WAY more technical, but BIR has the fastest corner in the west so that has a small amount of appeal to it.  I'm anxious to try their new layout elimnating the drag strip section.

I've heard great things about Barber and would some day like to try it.

Definitely Road America. Fast, long and wide. Plus a great track to ride after watching AMA races there for over 25 years.

hondajunkie -> RE: Favorite Track? (1/9/2008 8:04:28 PM)

#1. Road America - Long track (4 miles!) and fast (pinned in 6th gear as fast as it would go)

#2. Grattan Raceway, Belding Mich. - long straightaway, tight technical layout, can run it both directions, even has a jump!

#3. Gingerman Raceway, South Haven Mich. - 1.8 miles, flows real nice, Detroit automakers use it for testing.

#4. Autobahn Country Club (Full course), Joliet, Il. - Close to home (20 min!), 3.65 miles 24 turns, keeps you busy!

racer212 -> RE: Favorite Track? (1/10/2008 7:55:45 AM)

SpecR -> RE: Favorite Track? (1/25/2008 10:00:04 PM)

I've watched a vintage race at Barber, and it seemed like a death trap (slight exaggeration)...  almost all metal barriers (they're too cheap to shell out a few million for motorcycle air barriers...apparently), and a bump in the track that took out about 10 guys that weekend (there were several red flags and one fatality), plus small runoff in some areas.
