Here is a question from a real rookie. Ok go ahead and type your lol and get your smileys ready.

After I ride my bike I smell of gas/exhaust. It is pretty bad. Is this normal or is there a problem? I thought is was from riding behind my friend but I rode alone yesterday for about 25minutes and I just plain reek (gas/exhaust not bathing habits). So lets keep the ragging on me to a minimum.

Thanks
Thom

Nope...sounds normal. It's a byproduct of riding so close to the fuel tank and exhaust.

Yeah normal problem! I hate it too. You don't realize it until you change though. Then you smell your clothes and they smell like that! Not a laughing matter...

Some bikes give off a more potent odor than others. I don't smell that bad from riding my bike, but when I've rode on the back of my mans' bike....I f*cking stink and so does he....that's how it is.

It happens mate,

I find that textiles absorb more smell than leather does.

Hope that may help.

Weird, my wife and I haven't experience the gas smell at all after I ride alone or with her on back. My wife hates that gas/exhaust smell. Her nose is so sensitive to it she complains every time I am working with gas in the garage and she has to walk through on her way into the house.

Summit racing sells fuel perfume that will make your exhaust smell like Pina Colada's. I ain't saying I'd try it in my bike, but if you were so inclined, I'd like to hear how it works out.

doncollins - Thanks for the love. I will try it. If I don't reply anytime soon you know that my fingers were burnt pretty bad.... lol

chainstretcher - Bike Perfume... I will try that the next time I ride, I am sure that my wife will not buy into it though

Anubis - I will trade you my Joe Rocket Jacket for your leathers?

fishfryer527 - Do they also sell fuel perfume that smells like Money? If so, I wouldn't be able to keep my wife off of me.....

Thanks for all of your replies. You guys/gals are great. I feel better knowing that I stink with a group of cool people.
