Hi, I have an '01 CBR 600 F4i, and the seat is awful so I'm looking to replace it.  I found a Corbin seat online for about $230 which I'm considering.  I've also seen people suggest on various forums that seats can be modifiied at an upholstery shop.  Any thoughts on this--suggestions on alternatives to Corbin, or the pros/cons of Corbin vs upholstery shop?
Thanks.

I havent actually modded a seat, technically its fairly simple.  but you have to find the right material for foam and then cut it correctly, and then make sure not to run staples up into your ass.     I have a used -but perfect condition corbin seat I will sell you for alot less than that.  I rode with it for a season, and it is a very comfortable seat.  I can ride all day long on that seat with no numbness or fatigue.  The only reason I took it off is becuase I did a track day, and found that the stock seat allowed me to hang off a litte easier.  You can still hang off with the corbin, it just takes a little more effort to slide your but up over the saddle.  PM me if your interested in the seat

I have a corbin seat as well and I agree with Krash. It is very comfortable for all day riding, but you do have to work a little more to get off the seat. It is almost as if you have to slightly stand up and move off the seat. I also have the rear seat and back rest for my wife when she rides with me.
Go ahead, I'll wait for the laughter to stop......................................................................................

OK now that it's all out.
It works great even in the mountains. She doesn't need to hang onto me and allows me to move like I need to.
The Corbins are worth it, but a little pricy I must confess.

I don't ride very aggresively, and I'm wondering how much of an issue getting out of the seat is going to be for me?

If you dont ride super aggressively, it wont be an issue at all.   I am talking about getting out of the seat enough to drag a knee.   I have ground the pegs plenty of times with the corbin seat on.  Its really not an issue for casual to moderalty aggressive riding.  Its only when you start doing quick switchbacks left knee to right knee and stuff like that where the tiny bit of extra effort is noticed.  It can be done with the corbin, but it does take a little more effort.   I have actually been on the fence about selling it just becuase of that.  it is very comfortable, but since 90%+ of my riding is hard twisties now, I switched back to the stock
cinder block.

If buying a corbin,Check with one of our vendors(carolinacycle). They can get them way cheaper than the "sticker" prices out there.

Gonna get a corbin for mine next month..
