I just checked and mine has it too. It's probably only on the left side because it's a kick stand issue. This is good news I guess because it means the stresses of riding aren't causing the damage which means regular riding is less likely to make the problem worse.

I need to find someone with an angle grinder and a MIG welder now.

IMO, the stress of the chain would seem more plausible to cause a crack on the left side, rather than the kick-stand

Although, if someone tried to ride off with the kick-stand down, I could see bad things happening.

That's a good point. Whatever it is, it sucks. I've got the whole thing apart to redo all the plastic and now I've found this. Should be easy to fix I guess.

The bolts were properly tightened... not too loose or too tight. I have welded the second frame with no issues so far.

With winter coming it may be time to inspect your frame and repair if necessary.

my cbr had the crack in the frame so i thought i would post up the pics.

here is the original crack.  not bad, but i didn''t want it to get any worse.

so i used my dremel and cut a groove along the crack to clean it out and get good penetration on the weld

my friend at work TIG welded it for me.

here is a spare frame i have with massive cracking.

Your friend did a nice job on the weld.
The crack in the last frame above resembles the frame in my friends bike for length, but the crack extends from engine mount not upper spar.
