gjeatt -> CCT (1/8/2008 8:56:54 PM)

Why hasn't any one thought of this Idea before for CCT rattles? Iv'e heared all sorts of ways to stop rattling caused by this and that, but I don,t believe any of it. Cam chain tensioners rarely wear out or rattle on the end pin, if you look closely even a new one is loose on the end pin. Sure a manual adjusting tensioner is a way to go, but try this first. I heard that a VFR spring is stronger but hard to get cheap and on its own from Honda. Heres what I did - when your tensiioner spring weakens just add 4 extra turns to the spring before assembly, I did this to an older one and gained 30% extra tension 1.200mg and I also gained 30% to a newer one that has just started to cause a rattle. While I don't recommend this to a new CCt it should be OK for an older one, also if you dont know how to add 4 extra turns then I suggest you don't touch it at all. I put the older one in and It's now quiet, more power (in my opinion), and I now have a spare, all without chasing a heavier spring or buying new one. When (if) these wear our again i'll just go for a manual CCT. Cheers ..save some of ya Money[;)] [image]local://upfiles/23173/1C2C1DD909684F4A9643A70D3CA5E459.jpg[/image] [image]local://upfiles/23173/C98A8C0FE72744D0A56704FCF5929FB4.jpg[/image]
