The front wheel is completley done, ready to re-install. Here are some pics of the finished product. Stripped the whole wheel with Aircraft stripper ,sanded smooth lips all way up to 2000, buffed with an air-powered 3" Mac Tools buffer. Powdercoated centers MIRROR black (much glossier and shinier than stock black). Total time in front wheel from start to finish is about 15 hours. And cost for one wheel was right around $20.00  What do you guys think?

Finished front wheel & back wheel polished ready to be coated.

Comments anyone?

Looks pretty damn good. What did you do bearing-wise?

looks awesome...but my real question....did you have your rotor carrier powdercoated black?? or did you just paint it...and if you PC....did you take the carrier off the rotor, meaning did you take off the buttons and just do the carrier or did you do the whole thing and just mask off the rotor and buttons and PC'd the carriers???

very intersted in this as i want to do my carriers....

this may be a dumb question, but what are you talking about when you say "rotor carrier"?

had to pull out the bearings and seals, as the heat from the powder coat oven would damage them.

The centers of the rotors...

Are you going to clearcoat the lip?  I would otherwise be perpared to constantly re-polish them... coming from personal expericence.

just a note, heat will not affect your bearings....just need to remove dust seals and collars prior to powder...

Oh, I didn't know that, I thought that the heat from the oven would damage them. Thanks for the information!!

I am currently undergoing the same process you have almost completed. I am doing my front wheel like yours and then the back all polished with the blue (the color of my bike) lip ring vinyl to match. The rear spokes are proving to be a pain due to the pitted factory look. Taking a while to get smooth. Any suggestions or things you learned along the way that you would like to share? Thanks.
