Hi Guys, I've owned my 2006 CBR600RR for just over half a year now, and am absolutely loving it! Just one question; According to the Australian user manual, recommended oil and oil filter intervals on this bike are 12 months or 12,000 kms, whichever comes first. I'm not use to leaving an oil in my bikes for such an extended time, I normally do oil changes at 5-6 month intervals, I guess some change theirs sooner, but my bike only travels under 4,000kms /year. So my question is, should I leave the bike for the full 11-12 months, or do I change only the oil at 6 month intervals, and leave the filter for the yearly oil changes. Other CBR600RR owners - feel free to list your oil change intervals. Cheers. Thumbnail Image

Hey man, welcome to the forums. I must admit I'm not too good at the metric system. I'd have to break out my calculator and convert it but I'm pretty lazy. I change my oil every 3,000 mile or so (you do the math), but I've put 20,000 miles on mine sence 05, so I ride pretty regular. It also may depend on the conditions, dusty or dirty environment may call for more frequent changes. Hope this helps.

I would say go with 6 month intervals, it certinly wont hurt. I have no numbers to back this up, but 12,000 km or year seems like alot between oil changes and engines like oil.

I have gone to 3000 mi on Honda full synthetic oil. I should have changed it at 2500mi b/c that oil looked like shit. It was thick and I don't want my motor running on that for longer than it has to. Sooner the better. 2000mi-2500mi is a good change interval for syn when you run it hard.

I did my first oil change at 600 miles, call me cautious but I still believe in break in. My interval will be 1,500 miles a lot of that due to the extreme temperature variances of south dakota.
