Hauling track bike

rogcbr -> Hauling track bike (1/10/2008 1:00:31 PM)

Ok, quick question.  What is an inexpensive trailer that I can get to tow my bike to the track?  I've seen "bikelug" trailer, and that seems pretty inexpensive.   Any other recommendations for a starter trailer?

I would try HarborFreight, they have inexpensive trailers. I can't speek for the quality, but the prices are good.

I think pickup truck or cargo van is cheapest.  All U need is ramp and straps.  I recommend ratchet type straps.  If you have neither, you can rent a moving van.

Right now I have a SUV (Chevy Trailblazer) to use.  No van or truck.

The rental is a good idea.

I'll check into Harbour Freight.

this is my inexpensive trailer i use. as well as about 5 other people i go to the track with. mine is set up for 1 bike, or 2 bikes. just have to drop in a 2nd wheel chock and strap it down. and sturdy for a 75mph 4hr freeway road trip to the track.

harbor frieght trailer- the 1200lb max one. paid 200.00 used :)
20' or E-track  50.00
6 6000lb rated E-track D rings
misc hardware 65.00
wood 40.00
ramp kit  25.00
wheel chock (condor knock-off) 125.00 buddy makes them

if you notice the dinky black caster wheels in the last pic./ i broke them. with the added weight of the E track, hardware, and wood, the added weight was to much for them. i went to home depot and bought some ball bearing swivel (450lb rating each) casters. wiht a little fanagling, they bolted right up. the trailer now moves effortlessly when folded up. not like before when the casters broke into pieces. lol

That trailer is ideal for the money and weight.

May order one tomorrow.

My 04 600 RR is going to be a track only bike.

And I have a 2000 Intrepid with 170+ k miles to pull it.

So...need something light, legal, and ticket proof...like a damn light...plate..flashing newon and strobe to highlight each.

Big sign that says, be a man, not a meter maid.

Going to the track, and do 200mph...LEGALLY!

Piss off.

fyi:
i used 3/4" plywood and painted white for water protection. the trailer calls for 1/2" plywood, i used 3/4" for added stability. the only downfall when using 3/4" plywood is when closing you have to do it slowly, or else the hinges will bind up and youll have to unbolt it and straighten it out. also, i use a strap to keep the trailer folded up and not fall open when storing.
