Are the throttle plates not supposed to be at 90 degrees at WOT?

I've been messing with the throttle cables for hours, trying to get them to work (and return automatically), but I can't imagine they would design the carbs to not open to WOT (90 degrees) at max open.

180 degrees.

90 degrees (also known as 1/4 turn throttle) is aftermarket, and not for the inexperienced rider.

180* carb plates would be completely closed and upside down. He's not talking about the throttle on the bar as far as I can tell, but the plate inside the carb.

Yes...  I know that the throttle isn't supposed to be a quarter turn stock.

Although strangely enough, it only seems to move... a quarter of a turn.

I have like 3 different throttle grip tubes from three different bikes, and they all look the same... I can't imagine they'd ALL be quarter-turn grips.

Even stranger, the carbs I took off my bad engine will open all the way, but they wouldn't open all the way when they were on the bike.  And then, the carbs I put on my good engine would open all the way when they were off the bike, and now they won't open all the way...

So, WTF?

Got the right throttle cables and cable routing?

When you put the carbs on the bike, will they open all the way up without the cable attached? If so, then you have a cable/twister issue.

Actually, I don't think they will...  I could have sworn the carbs I put on the bike would open to 90 degrees before I put them on the bike, and they wouldn't when I put them on (WITHOUT the cables hooked up).  Not to mention the throttle grip will do a full 180 degrees with the cables, if I don't hook them to the carbs.

So perhaps I've got some sort of blockage.

Oh, come to think of it, maybe one of the hose clamps that holds the carbs on the bike is hitting one of the secondary (or even the primary) throttle arm...thingies.  I kind of ignored the stock positions to make them easier to put on :p

Problem fixed...  the carburetor clamps were blocking the rotating assemblies in about 3 places.

Seriously though, is the F2 throttle grip supposed to turn 180 degrees (half a turn)?

Because mine only does 90 (a quarter turn) from idle to WOT (not nessicarily a bad thing...  but I AM a new rider).

It's not a race throttle.  It's a normal stock-looking white plastic throttle insert.

It didn't have any goodies on it, per say...  none of the bolts are drilled or anything like that.

Mine has that issue. Sometime in the life of the bike someone must have raced cause i found a bunch of aftermarket stuff when i was redoing the plastic. K and N filter, the twist throttle is race style, had a power ignition box (i think that is what you call it). Also the engine was modified to some point with aftermarket cam and piston. The print looked old so i don't know how long its been. Not sure exactly but it was cool to find out
