wont idle - 1/14/2008 8:18:39 PM    89cane   Posts: 165 Joined: 11/6/2007 Status: offline hey i finally got my first f1 going and i cant seem to get it to idle i bought it from a guy who said it ran but it never really did and i think the carbs are from the wrong model so i am looking into new ones if you have any advice it revs up just fine but wont odle i suppose it could be from not running in at least 2 years i dont really know much about bikes so any input would be aprecaited. RE: wont idle - 1/15/2008 7:38:49 PM    michigan_313   Posts: 674 Joined: 2/24/2006 Status: offline 1000's? from what year? i never had any problems with my original set of carbs. if you are experiencing backfire, it is either running rich or lean. could either be due to ignition or carb. are you running stock exhaust? do the 600 carbs need rebuilding? RE: wont idle - 1/15/2008 9:16:53 PM    89cane   Posts: 165 Joined: 11/6/2007 Status: offline they 1000's are from 89 as well. i am trying to put the 600 carbs on i already rebuilt them but i think they need new gaskets on the float bowls i got it to start after i replaced the carbs just now and fuel was leaking out of the bottem of them. When i bought the bike it had a different exaust i put stock back on it becuse the one he had on it was not for road use and i got pulled over when i first rode it and it first died on me all at once.
